Using veneers as raw material for the production of building products is a promising approach, combining technological, economic and ecological aspects. The focus of the mini-symposium is on two research fields: (i) innovative product and (ii) connection solutions. Thereby the demands and requirements of contemporary timber engineering shall be met.
The purpose of this mini-symposium is to demonstrate new possibilities for softwood and hardwood utilization based on veneer.
The submitted contributions should refer to recent developments with an emphasis on:
- process parameters effecting physical and mechanical properties of veneer-based products, and,
- modelling, analysis and testing of veneer-based structural components and connections.
The intention of the symposium is to provide an overview on recent research activities identifying and discussing main challenges and problems regarding veneer based product design and applications in the building sector.
