Tall buildings - Dynamic performance from measurements of completed structures

Tall buildings are being proposed and constructed at a faster and faster rate. By the time of WCTE 2016 it is hard to estimate how many there will be or how tall. What is certain is that there will be more of them and there will be proposals for taller ones than exist at present.

For this reason there will be many papers submitted on the topic of Tall Buildings to each of the general topics. In the context of the further development of this important sector, it is essential to draw together the output from the measurement of the behaviour of completed buildings.

Discussion and enquiry at WCTE 2014 established that measurement is being carried out in parts of the world where tall buildings are being considered and developed (China, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Nordic countries, UK, USA).

This mini-symposium will choose papers for presentation that will draw data together and form the basis for understanding methods of measurement and analysis, leading to better understanding of behaviour of completed buildings and safer predictions for the future.
